View artefacts online
The Collections Australia Network (CAN) website is a cultural heritage resource for researchers, historians, students and the general public. CAN contains artefacts from the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority archaeological collection. The collection is rich with objects from numerous archaeological digs including the Cumberland/Gloucester 'Big Dig', Harrington Street well, Dawes Point Battery and many more. Some of these artefacts are on display in The Rocks Discovery Museum, including the George Cribb alcohol still from the Cribb's Well display.
To search for the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority artefacts using the CAN website, click on the 'FIND collection items' button and type CUGL into the search box. CUGL stands for Cumblerland/Gloucester artefacts. In the future many more artefacts will be added from a variety of different archaeological sites.
