Vivid Sydney Returns to The Rocks

Vivid Sydney will take place over 23 amazing nights, from Friday 25 May to Saturday 16 June.

Once again, The Rocks will be at the very heart of this hugely popular festival and the precinct will literally light up with art, colour and ideas.

Numerous tenant information sessions were held by PropertyNSW earlier in the month, outlining the Vivid Sydney footprint in The Rocks. A big thank you to those who came and for your engagement and feedback on the day. Road Closures during Vivid Sydney

  • Road closures will be in place in the Sydney CBD, Circular Quay and The Rocks during Vivid Sydney from 7pm on Monday – Thursday nights; from 6pm on Friday nights; and from 5pm on weekends including the Queen’s Birthday public holiday on Monday 11 June. Closures are expected to be lifted by midnight each night.

  • Special event clearway parking restrictions will be in effect daily throughout the festival from 3pm to midnight on most major roads in the city. On a section of George Street between Lower Fort Street and Hickson Road, clearways will be in effect from 5pm to midnight.

By now you should have received a notification email from Destination NSW outlining how to register for a Vivid Sydney Retail Activation Pack.

Registrations closed on 28 April, however DNSW will allow late registrations until Wednesday 2 May.

  • To receive the Vivid Sydney Retail Activation Pack, please email,

  • A Vivid Sydney Retail Activation Coordinator will contact you to schedule an approximate time and date for the installation contractors to deliver the Retail Activation Pack.

The Retail Activation Pack includes

  • Vivid Sydney window decals (installed free of charge by contracted installation staff, where applicable). 
  • Vivid Sydney button badges (for your customer facing staff)
  • Vivid Sydney A2-size poster


Sydney Made at The Rocks Markets

Sydney Made

Sydney Made joins The Rocks Markets this May, showcasing locally made products.

Sydney Made is a volunteer run collective of creatives who support local hobbyists to turn their crafts into micro businesses and viable small businesses. They do this because they value handmade, locally produced work by people who are passionate about their products. Many of them started out on the online platform Etsy.

On Saturdays and Sundays throughout May, Sydney Made will be at The Rocks Markets, featuring stallholders whose unique arts and crafts products are all locally made. For more information, visit the Sydney Made website.

Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon 2018

Smh Half Marathon

Up to 12,000 runners from around the world will take part in Australia’s largest and most prestigious annual half marathon event on Sunday 20 May.

The Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon will take participants through some of the city’s most iconic, beautiful and popular locations.

This high-adrenalin event will make for an exciting start to the day, whether as a participant or spectator, and will bring crowds to and through The Rocks.

Major road closures and extensive parking restrictions will also be in place throughout the 21.1km course along the Harbour foreshore from Hyde Park in the CBD to Pyrmont and return.

Road Closures

  • Sydney CBD between 4am and 11.30am.
  • The Rocks & Circular Quay between 5am and 8.30am. 
  • Key closures include the Cahill Expressway over Circular Quay until 11am and sections of the Western Distributor including on and off-ramps until 10.30am.
  • Access to the Anzac Bridge from the city is via the Druitt Street on-ramp to the Western Distributor. 
  • Access to the Sydney Harbour Bridge is via Clarence Street and Harbour Street.
