Drawing inspiration from her nomadic upbringing, designer and creator Osha aims to instil a feeling of wonder and empowerment in all of her pieces. Honing skills learnt as a professional costume maker, she produces garments that are striking, and unique, though still practical and comfortable to wear.
Every aspect of Bilboa, from designing, to cutting, to construction is lovingly done by hand, here in Sydney. Firm believers of the slow fashion movement, they make many of their garments on demand, so they can happily customise garments to specific measurements.
Crafted from dead stock, organic and vintage fabric, their designs are determined by what they have on hand, and they strive to source all fabrics from ethical backgrounds. Working around imperfections, transforming discarded and excess fabric, to give it new life in small run, and one-off pieces. Patterns are shaped to fit the fabric, and optimize fabric consumption.
Featuring vibrant colours, and bold patterns, they hand print onto fabric; using eco-friendly paints to minimise waste and water usage. From packaging to tags, they strive to reduce our footprint on the earth, by using only recycled paper products.
