MCA Late x Vivid: The Dinner Party

Unpack race relations in Australia today and flip usual power dynamics on its head during an evening with Richard Bell.

Hosted by artist and activist Richard Bell, the evening brings together playful, serious and tongue-in-cheek conversations, performances and more. Inspired by Richard Bell’s film titled The Dinner Party (2013), the evening starts where the film ends, presenting an Aboriginal-led future.

This event coincides with the presentation of the artist’s major survey exhibition at the MCA, You Can Go Now.

Expect the unexpected with an evening of twists and turns presented in collaboration with Vivid Ideas. We’ve fused conversation, music, dance, theatre, and fashion as the main ingredients to expand minds, shake booties, and celebrate the voices of unapologetic changemakers and mavericks. Wander through our galleries, and you never know what you may find. Plus a music program on the night curated by our friends FBi Radio.

Full program to be announced in late June.

Presented as part of a series of three free nights by bold, brave and unruly changemakers. Find out about the program on Friday 13 August and Friday 20 August.

Presented in collaboration by MCA & Vivid Ideas
