In conversation: Tony Albert
To mark the opening weekend of major exhibition Tony Albert: Not a Souvenir, join artist Tony Albert in conversation with guest curator Bruce Johnson McLean.
Tony Albert: Not a Souvenir considers how Aboriginal peoples and cultures have been misrepresented and commodified over time, while also celebrating survival, resilience and cultural pride. Close collaborators for more than 25 years, Albert and McLean will discuss the exhibition's ideas and the breadth of Albert’s practice, which includes sculpture, photography, installation, painting and assemblage. They will also share insights into the making of Albert's works and reflect on what they hope audiences will take away from the exhibition.
The conversation will conclude with a Q&A, followed by the launch of a new book on the artist's practice, Not a Souvenir, published to coincide with the exhibition. Please join the artist at the MCA Store on Level 1 for this event.
