Try these native Australian cocktails and beers at The Rocks

Experience the unique flavours of native Australian drinks at The Rocks this October for Untamed Gourmet.
We’re bringing rare native Australian flavours together for Untamed Gourmet, a month-long celebration of original Australian ingredients. We’re talking spicy native pepperberries, zesty lemon myrtle, aromatic wattleseed and so much more.

Whether you’re after a locally brewed beer, a brand new cocktail concoction or a masterclass on gin, The Rocks is your destination for drinks that are as unique as the Aussie landscape.

Here are a few of our faves, to start you on your tasting journey.

This hero of this Mrs. Jones cocktail is its lemon myrtle honey vodka blend, a subtle combination of sweet and tangy notes that make for a powerhouse flavour. Perfectly combined with banana liqueur, the Believe In Myrtle is the tropics in a glass.

Kick back with a locally inspired brew from the geniuses at Endeavour Tap Rooms. The Pepperosella Saison Native Beer is a pink-tinted saison made with native pepperberry for a mild, malty flavour with a perfect hint of spice. A glass of ale that looks great and tastes better.

This one from The Doss House is a bit of a choose-your-own adventure cocktail. Tangy and refreshing, The Advantage brings lemon myrtle and grapefruit juice together with your choice of Archie Rose gin or Vantage, an Australian botanical spirit made with lemon myrtle, Tasmanian mountain pepperberries and mandarin. Pair it with their Untamed Gourmet food menu, like the roo toastie or native platter, which comes loaded with kangaroo prosciutto, wild boar salami, cave-aged cheddar, creamed Aussie honey and Sonoma sourdough.

A native twist on a crowd favourite, this espresso martini from The Push takes full advantage of the unique flavour of wattleseed. It’s warm, aromatic and nutty, and with strong coffee notes that make it right at home in this cocktail classic.

A homemade lemon myrtle liqueur, lovingly combined with sparkling Australian wine by the folk at Pony Dining. Great on its own, it also pairs perfectly with their Untamed Gourmet food offerings: woodfire-grilled crocodile tail fillet with ginger and shallot yoghurt, chilli bean sauce and a side of crispy kale; and seared kangaroo loin with roasted beetroot tartare, raspberries and fresh horseradish.

Enjoy a fully interactive evening masterclass run by The Doss House and renowned local gin brand, Archie Rose. You’ll get to experience an in-depth tasting of Archie Rose faves (including their renowned collaboration with Sydney Opera House), as well as a mouthwatering native nibble platter, featuring Australian cheeses and breads, cult-favourite Pepe Saya cultured butter, and native cured meats. Plus, the night kicks off with a gin cocktail on arrival – to get you in the mood to learn, of course.
