Map, showing Museum of Contemporary Art Australia

The home of modern art in Australia with an ever-changing exhibition program.

Located on the edge of Sydney Harbour in a striking art deco building, the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA) is the country's leading institution dedicated to exhibiting, interpreting and collecting contemporary art from across Australia and around the world. Just a short stroll from Circular Quay, the MCA is a vibrant hub for creativity, culture and conversation.

The museum’s dynamic exhibition program changes regularly, offering something fresh and inspiring with every visit. From large-scale installations and bold contemporary painting to new media, photography and sculpture, the MCA showcases boundary-pushing work from both established and emerging artists.

Visitors can engage more deeply with the art through talks led by artists, curators and industry experts. These events offer behind-the-scenes insights into the creative process, helping audiences connect with art on a more meaningful level.

More than just a gallery, the MCA is also a social space. You’ll find the popular MCA Cafe at Tallawoladah offering spectacular views of the Opera House and Sydney Harbour, and the MCA Store, filled with art books, locally designed gifts and handmade jewellery.

Whether you're an art enthusiast or a curious traveller, the Museum of Contemporary Art is an unmissable stop on Sydney’s cultural trail—free to enter and always inspiring.
