Map, showing The Rocks self-guided Art Tour

Wander through The Rocks and witness the public pop-up art curated by Array.

As part of Art & Culture Month, The Rocks self-guided Art Tour, Seen Unseen, curated by Array invites you to look closer, to notice what usually slips past the eye. It celebrates beauty in all its forms: hidden or in plain sight, fresh or weathered, bold or quietly overlooked.

Explore the artworks and meet the artists below, then set off to discover the surprises waiting in Nurses Walk and The Rocks Square in The Rocks.

KalaRahu (2025)

Indonesian-Australian artist Jumaadi’s work is infused with myths, experiences of love and displacement, botanical, maritime and trade histories.  This work draws on the artist’s practice that ranges from contemporary shadow puppet performances to intricately carved buffalo hide.  Living on Borogegal and Cammeraigal land and Yogyakarta and currently working from a studio at Artapce, Jumaadi’s practice spans painting, sculpture, installation and performance.

Old Spaces (2019-ongoing)

Old Spaces is a project by Nancy Liang that documents spaces in mostly Sydney, Australia. The aim of the project is to unearth local history and re-animate the forgotten stories attached to these sites. The project is inspired by the development boom in Sydney with replacement of historical buildings for high-rise apartments. Nancy Liang is a Sydney-based artist whose work focuses on the night tales of urban landscapes, city streets and the often forgotten places of suburbia.

Sydney Mystery Structures (2015, 2025)

The Sydney Mystery Structures map collects some of the city's unusual and unexpected landmarks. These towers, monuments and architectural oddities, past and present, form part of the storied landscape of Sydney, connecting to hidden histories and enriching our sense of place. Vanessa Berry is a writer and artist whose work examines memory, personal storytelling, and the urban environment.

Skirts (2021-2025)

Selected works from original banners produced as part of Skirts, an MCA, C3West Project. Banners which represent the women from Kingswood and surrounding suburbs together with their words. Linda Brescia is a Western Sydney-based artist who investigates the banalities and complexities of everyday life experiences and rituals through painting, photography, sculpture and performance.
