Joy Around Every Corner: Your Festive Weekend Guide to The Rocks

Christmas is calling at The Rocks, and we're bringing all the sparkle, colour, and good vibes you could wish for.
Looking for the ultimate way to soak up some Christmas cheer in Sydney? Consider this your guide to a festive weekend packed with sparkle, good vibes, and all the magic The Rocks has to offer.

The Rocks Christmas Tree

Start your journey in the heart of the precinct at Jack Mundey Place, where The Rocks’ towering seven-metre Christmas tree stands. Covered in warm tones of yellows and pinks, it celebrates our connection to First Nations culture through native florals. Adding to the magic, wooden baubles handcrafted by Wiradjuri artist Shelby-Rae Kschenka tell stories of Country, family, and connection. Each swirl and dot is painted with soulful care, making the tree not just a festive centerpiece, but a celebration of culture, storytelling, and heritage.

The Rocks Markets: Christmas Edition

Next, wander through The Rocks Markets: Christmas Edition, and discover a treasure trove of one-of-a-kind gifts from local makers. From handmade jewellery and art prints to unique keepsakes, there’s something for everyone on your list. Snack your way through gourmet bites, international treats, and festive flavours, and enjoy a picnic under the Harbour Bridge.

Homegrown Concert

Then, head to Tallawoladah Lawn for the Homegrown Concert and spend the afternoon soaking up live performances from some of Australia’s most exciting local artists. From 3.30pm to 6.30pm on 5–6 December, the lawn comes alive with sounds spanning soulful vocals, alt-rock, neo-soul, hip-hop, and genre-defying storytelling. On Saturday 6 December, enjoy the expressive melodies of Kalena, the heartfelt alt-rock of Adam Newling, and the award-winning artistry of Gordi. On Sunday 7 December, experience the rich neo-soul of PA777IENCE, the explosive energy of ARIA-winning DOBBY, and the reflective, genre-blurring sound of Mo’Ju.

End the day with a drink

As the sun dips, end your festive day with a drink your way: sip cocktails atop The Glenmore Hotel’s rooftop, taking in panoramic views of the Harbour Bridge, Opera House, and sparkling city skyline, or retreat to Bar Lulu for a more intimate, stylish escape with expertly crafted cocktails. Whether you’re in the mood for soaking up the harbour sunset vistas or enjoying a cosy, vibrant setting, both destinations offer the perfect way to toast the season.

Wherever you wander, joy is around every corner this Christmas at The Rocks.
