Silkman was founded in 2013 by Hunter Valley winemaking duo Shaun and Liz Silkman as a passion project focused on small-batch wines from exceptional vineyard parcels. Today, it is one of Australia's most awarded boutique wine labels.

In 2025, Liz Silkman became the first Hunter Valley winemaker named Halliday Winemaker of the Year, while Silkman collected 16 trophies, including Semillon of the Year, Best NSW White Wine and Most Successful Exhibitor at the NSW Wine Awards.

First Ridge was established by John and Helen Nicholas in 1998 under the guidance of world-renowned viticulturist Dr Richard Smart.
