Unwind in style with the enchanting sounds of Jazz Sessions in The Rocks Square, every Thursday evening.

Each week, homegrown talent from the cool and creative world of Australian jazz will take the stage under twinkling lights and captivate you on a sonic adventure. This new program is curated by SIMA, who are passionate about presenting the most unique, exciting and diverse jazz. 

Mingle with your mates, catch up after work or make new friends as you connect over refreshing cocktails from Hickson House.

Jazz Sessions is free to attend, so you can unwind and enjoy the music each week without breaking the bank. It’s the perfect after work activity, pre or post dinner treat. We will go ahead rain or shine. Join us outdoors under the stars at The Rocks Square, or just a 2 minute walk away at 6-8 Atherden St in the event of wet weather.

Dan Barnett
Dan Barnett was born into music, being the son of the legendary Sydney Bassist Cliff Barnett. He began his musical life as a trombonist and quickly developed a love for singing and has since carved an enviable reputation on the Australian music scene. Dan has worked and recorded with some of the greats including James Morrison, INXS, Jack Johnson and Paul Kelly.

Drummer Abby Constable, guitarist Arthur Washington and keyboardist Andrew Scott form the emerging jazz trio 'Abby, Andrew and Also Arty.' Inspired by the sounds of 60s soul and organ ensembles, watch this trio burst with innovative energy and the grooviest tunes of the decades that will lift your spirits and send you on your way with a smile.

Briana Cowlishaw and Gavin Ahearn

Brianna Cowlishaw and Gavin Ahearn have been playing together for over ten years and boast a huge variety of influences and inspirations, from modern pop to free-flowing expression and improvisation, this duo will take you on a hypnotic journey.

Ben Hauptmann Trio

Ben Hauptmann is a prestigious touring and session guitarist based on the Central Coast North of Sydney, Australia. Ben has shared the stage with a diverse range of artists including Gurrumul Yunupingu, Paul Kelly, Donny Benet, Bandaluzia Flamenco, Bertie Blackman, Jack Ladder, Lior, Bluejuice, Micheline Van Hautem, James Morrison and Tal Wilkenfeld. He is a lecturer at The Jazz Music Institute in Brisbane and is currently touring, recording and performing with Vika & Linda Bull, Justine Clarke, Katie Noonan and Martha Marlow.
